Donnie Norton, Steve Bass, and “A Swingin’ Affair… with the Great American Song Book” will bring jazz and pop standards from the likes of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett and the music of such 20th century songwriting greats as Richard Rodgers and Cole Porter at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15.
Norton recently completed a successful and critically-acclaimed run as Nick Bottom in “Something Rotten!” at the Company Theatre in Norwell and is well known locally as director of the award-winning Weymouth High Theater Company, lead singer of The New Band, and as a teacher in the Weymouth Public Schools.
Bass is the resident music director at Company Theatre and has worked as a music director, conductor, arranger, and pianist in the Greater Boston Area for over 10 years. He is the composer and creator of Swan Lake in Blue, a jazz ballet for 16 piece big band and tap dancers, which had its world premiere at Greater Boston Stage Company in 2019.
We’re excited to announce that talented and award-winning students from the Weymouth High School jazz program will be warming up the audience with several selections.
