This event will be played on Saturday, August 11th at Lovell Field in Weymouth. The attached flyer provides more information on game formats and cost. This event is open to boys and girls teams with divisions available U9 through adult.
This is being opened up to town and high school teams only as a starting point. We will not be asking for rosters or passcards. We simply want the kids to come out and enjoy a day of soccer while honoring the men and women who protect us each day. This is not a Bolts Tournament, but they are a sponsor for the event which is why they appear on the flyer.
On Sunday, July 15th the Town of Weymouth, Weymouth Police Department, and The Chesna Family were faced with their worst nightmare. A police officer murdered in cold blood while responding to a call. Officer Chesna leaves behind his wife and two young children ages 4 and 9.
Through collaboration with the Weymouth Recreation Department the fields for this event have been donated at no cost. 100% of all money raised will go directly to the Chesna Family.
This is a great opportunity to teach our young athletes about appreciation for the law enforcement agencies that protect all of us every day. This happened in Weymouth, but could have happened anywhere. The outpouring of support from local towns has been overwhelming and appreciated. We are hopeful the local community can partner in giving back to this local hero and his family in a time of great despair.
