HULL ARTIST Connie Crosby
DIGITAL ART MAKING
I will talk about my ideas on digital art and art making using the iPad, what apps I use, and why, and how I use this method to produce my own work.
The first part of my presentation will be about pieces that have crossed and recrossed the digital divide multiple times. I will bring examples of those pieces to illustrate. For example, I may start with a photograph, make a colored pencil drawing, scan that image, then manipulate it. Taking the result of the digital image. manipulation I created a silkscreen print based on the digital image. I also painted a larger acrylic piece based on the smaller original study. And recently I have played with an image of the painting and made digital prints/monotypes as commission for clients.
The second part of the presentation will focus on how I hand print my digital work. Each print is a monoprint, unique. I will show examples of pieces in progress and completed work. I will demo each step of the process including base coating the wood panel, applying the paper copy to the panel, removing the paper backing to reveal the image, and finish options. For those that wish attendees can try removing the paper backing from some prepped panels to reveal the print. Final finish options can be as simple as clear varnish for protection or adding other media to the print-paints, glazes, markers, pastels collage, etc.
Demo Artist presentations, workshops and judges for art shows are supported in part by a grant from the Weymouth Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council a state agency.
